DETENTION

Detention will be held after school with a designated staff member.

Detention can also be held during the lunch period without parent notice, students will be given time to purchase/eat lunch.

Parents will be notified the day before the student stays after school by written notice sent by the teacher or office personnel.

Notification of detention may be made by telephone or via a student / parent notice.

Bus transportation at 4:00 p.m. is provided to the elementary sites Monday through Friday.

Teachers may assign detention based on their classroom rules.

The following infractions will be reasons for office assigned detention (usually Tuesdays and Thursdays):

(1) defiance / disruption;

(2) chewing gum;

(3) profanity/abusive language;

(4) inappropriate behavior;

(5) cafeteria violations;

(6) other safety violations;

(7) excessive tardies.

If a detention is not served, a T.A.S.K. will be issued.

If detention "no shows" are habitual, a T.A.S.K. or suspension may be assigned.

In the case of an excused absence or suspension, the missed detention will be reassigned.
